The RoleWe are seeking a Lead Data Engineer to own and evolve the data platform that supports trading, research, and risk systems. In this role, you will lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance data pipelines and platforms, while mentoring engineers and setting technical direction.
This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-impact trading environment.
What You’ll Do- Lead the design and implementation of scalable data architectures supporting trading and research
- Build and maintain robust, low-latency and batch data pipelines for market, reference, and internal data
- Partner closely with traders, quants, and researchers to understand data needs and deliver solutions
- Establish best practices for data quality, reliability, observability, and governance
- Own data ingestion, transformation, and storage across real‑time and historical datasets
- Drive technical decisions around data tooling, architecture, and platform evolution
- Mentor and guide data engineers, conducting code reviews and technical design reviews
- Improve performance, scalability, and fault tolerance of data systems
- 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering or related roles, with leadership responsibility
- Strong programming skills in Python
- Deep experience with data pipeline and stream-processing technologies
- Strong SQL skills and experience with analytical data stores or time‑series databases
- Experience designing data systems for high-volume, high‑velocity data
- Solid understanding of data modeling, schema design, and data quality practices
- Experience working in Linux‑based production environments
- Ability to lead projects end‑to‑end and communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Experience in trading, financial markets, or quantitative environments
- Exposure to market data feeds and financial instruments
- Experience with cloud platforms or hybrid on‑prem systems
