Data Center Operations Technician, ORD DCO
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Data Center Operations team requires technicians to plan and track capacity, deploy racks, cable hardware, troubleshoot, and decommission equipment. Physical tasks include lifting up to 40 pounds, working in cramped or elevated locations, bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, standing, walking for long periods, ascending/descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely, working in noisy environments, and working longer than 8-hour shifts to provide 24/7 operations.
- Lifting and moving material up to 40 pounds each
- Working in cramped and/or elevated locations
- Bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching
- Standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day
- Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation
- Work in a noisy environment
- Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations (covering both night and day shifts)
- Take ownership of technical issues brought by their customer base, engaging other teams when needed to drive resolution
- Show a strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving
- Resolve problems at their root and understand the broader context
- Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting
- Act independently when direction or support is limited
- Improve effectiveness through process innovation
You will be required to work shifts that include days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Basic Qualifications- 1+ years of Linux operating systems experience
- Associate’s degree in IT-related field or equivalent professional or military experience
- 2+ years of experience with server hardware
- Experience working in a data center environment (racking, stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment)
- Hands‑on experience with one or more hardware platforms (e.g. Dell, HP) is a plus
- Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications is a plus
- Associate’s degree in IT-related field plus two years of progressively responsible experience preferred

Compensation ranges from $55,900 per year in the lowest geographic market to $125,100 per year in the highest. Additional compensation may include equity, sign‑on payments, and other benefits. For more details, see
