This organization is a global, technology-driven trading firm operating across major financial markets worldwide. The firm builds and operates its own proprietary systems and deploys capital directly, which places a strong emphasis on system reliability, data integrity, and operational excellence. Technology is treated as a core function rather than a support layer, with engineers owning systems end-to-end in production.
Role Overview
As an Application Support Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting core data platforms that underpin trading, analytics, and regulatory workflows. The role sits between engineering teams and system users, focusing on the health, accuracy, and performance of high-volume data pipelines. This is a hands‑on production engineering role with real technical depth, not a ticket‑driven help desk position. You will work closely with developers and stakeholders to investigate issues, improve system robustness, and support the onboarding of new applications into production environments.
Responsibilities- Operate and support high-throughput data processing systems that ingest, transform, and distribute market and transactional data
- Monitor production pipelines and alerting systems to ensure data completeness, correctness, and timeliness
- Investigate and resolve production incidents, including failed jobs, data inconsistencies, and performance degradation
- Analyze logs, datasets, and application behavior to identify root causes of issues
- Collaborate with software engineers to diagnose defects, recommend improvements, and validate fixes
- Respond to user inquiries related to data availability, analytics outputs, and reporting workflows
- Provide hands‑on L1 and L2 support while contributing to deeper technical investigations alongside engineering teams
- Assist with onboarding and operational readiness of new systems and data flows
- Participate in follow‑the‑sun operational coverage with distributed teams
- Experience supporting market data, reference data, or similarly complex data platforms in a financial or trading environment
- Strong background in production or application support for performance‑sensitive systems
- Exposure to L1–L3 support responsibilities, including working directly with development teams
- Ability to read and reason about object-oriented code in a production setting
- Comfort working in Linux-based environments
- Strong debugging and analytical skills with an emphasis on root‑cause analysis
- Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Proven ability to work independently and maintain composure during incidents
