Team OverviewThe Applications Software Engineering Team (ASET) creates a software environment for quantum application developers. A growing QA function bridges classical QA best practices with cutting‑edge quantum software development.
Role SummaryYou will be a hands‑on IC Senior QA Engineer, reporting to the Director of Engineering. Your primary responsibilities are 80% building test automation infrastructure and frameworks, and 20% coordinating testing efforts, triaging results, and reporting quality metrics.
Responsibilities- Design and build scalable test automation frameworks using pytest, Playwright, and Robot.
- Write initial automated test scripts (UI, API) to demonstrate best practices and serve as templates.
- Deliver production‑ready CI/CD integration of PoCs within the first 60 days.
- Collaborate with product, platform engineers, and domain experts to develop integration, functional, and system tests.
- Define and enhance QA strategy, processes, and metrics such as defect density and coverage.
- Integrate test automation into Git Lab CI/CD pipelines, ensuring clear reporting.
- Define performance benchmarks and stress‑testing protocols for large‑scale workloads.
- Build end‑to‑end system tests for front‑end, back‑end, and computational layers.
- Partner with teams following agile practices, improving quality through iterative development.
- Coordinate across multiple product teams, balancing priorities and delivering value.
- Generate executive‑level quality reports and dashboards.
- 8+ years in QA, including manual testing and test automation with Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
- 4+ years as a Senior QA Engineer or QA Lead in full‑stack, highly technical environments.
- Proven track record of building scalable QA processes and integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience collaborating with cross‑disciplinary teams and translating classical testing methods into domain‑specific contexts.
- Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals (OOP, version control, branching) and proficiency in scripting languages such as Python.
- Front‑end and back‑end testing experience (web UIs, REST APIs, microservices, data validation).
- Comfort operating in research‑oriented or emerging technology environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Quantum domain exposure (Qiskit, Cirq, or similar).
- AI‑driven test automation experience (Applitools, Testim.io, Sealights).
- Startup or early‑stage experience, rapidly moving from PoC to production.
- HPC or large‑scale testing experience (Docker/Kubernetes, performance testing).
- Agile/Scrum and Dev Ops experience (Git Lab, Git Hub Actions, cloud testing).
