The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Human Resource (HR) department. This role encompasses various functions, including the recruitment and interviewing of staff, administration of payroll, benefits, and leave, as well as the enforcement of company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with both mandatory and non-mandatory training programs, continuing education, and work assessments. This may involve safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and certifications.
- Engages in the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring processes for qualified candidates to fill open positions, collaborating closely with departmental managers to identify the necessary skills and competencies.
- Conducts background checks and verifies employee eligibility.
- Facilitates new hire orientation and develops employee recognition programs.
- Administers and executes human resource programs, which may include compensation, benefits, leave management, and handling disciplinary matters, disputes, and investigations. This also covers performance and talent management, productivity, employee recognition, morale, occupational health and safety, and training and development.
- Responds to employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, directing more complex or sensitive issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as current best practices; regularly reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Stays informed about trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in the fields of human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources is required.
- A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in human resources is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence.
