This position works out of our Lake County IL (Abbott Park) location.
The Manager, HR Communications, helps connect Abbott's 115,000+ employees with the numerous development and benefits programs offered by the company. The role serves as a relationship manager to assigned practice areas within HR; provides strategic consulting to HR leadership, project leads and department heads; and develops project plans to support global HR programs and local communication strategies. This position works in an energetic team setting, balances multiple priorities and may manage the work of others, directly or indirectly.
The role reports to the Director, HR Communications.
The Manager, HR Communications will:
- Serve as a relationship manager supporting the Talent Development practice center.
- Develop communication strategies and plans to guide the creation, design and implementation of programs specific to the practice center, including Global Development Week, annual goal setting, development planning and regular communications that highlight our training and development offerings.
- Advise and support area HR leaders with key communications.
- Ensure all HR Communications are consistent and aligned with Abbott's corporate brand identity, employment offering, strategic direction, business and leadership philosophies, employer branding and employee value proposition.
- Participate in efforts to support and increase employee engagement in collaboration with employee communications and marketing teams.
- Develop communication strategies and plans to guide the creation, design and implementation of communication campaigns and channels to reach employees in various workplace settings, such as manufacturing, field and offices.
- Effectively manage relationships with internal and external communication partners (Public Affairs, Corporate Communications, HR personnel, outside contractors, etc.).
- Work with HR Communication team members to ensure a cohesive approach to the comprehensive, global HR Communications strategy.
The Manager, HR Communications, serves primarily as a relationship manager to the Talent Development team, but will also provide communications counsel and support as needed for other practice areas and corporate projects. The role has responsibility for developing plans and strategies designed to achieve results, writing and producing a variety of communications materials, and managing projects. The manager, HR Communications, must closely influence clients and coordinate with teammates to meet deadlines and HR Communication goals.
This position is an integral team member of the HR Communications practice center.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in journalism, public relations or another communication-related major.
