The Study at University of Chicago is currently seeking a part-time Valet Attendant who will be responsible for welcoming and creating a first impression for our guests. This position works closely with the hotel's guest service team to assist arriving and departing guests with their luggage, park guests' vehicles, and deliveries to guest rooms when needed.

Pay: $18/hr
Responsibilities- Greeting guests upon arrival on the front driveway and assessing their needs (Valet, luggage assistance, or both).
- Documentation of guest name, all vehicle information including any previous damage (reviewed with guest).
- Documentation of all overnight vehicles on the guest log for night audit posting.
- Collection of guest keys and proper documentation of vehicle location in the parking garage.
- Ensuring all garage keys are properly attached to each set of guest keys.
- Charging short-term guests for valet parking in HMS.
- Retrieving departing guest vehicles/items in a timely manner.
- Auditing all guest keys at end of shift, and ensuring all overnight vehicles are documented on the guest log.
- Collecting guest items and stacking securely on a bell cart.
- Assisting guests at the front desk and introducing them by name.
- Obtaining room numbers from guests and riding along with guests to show how to use the elevator.
- Assisting with luggage placement in guest rooms, showing guests around the room, and explaining all features.
- Arriving at guest rooms in a timely manner for departing luggage assistance, double-checking with guests that all items are collected.
- Assisting guests to their desired vehicle, packing luggage and guest items safely and securely.
- Storing guest luggage at the front desk with proper luggage reference tags using guest name, room number, and total pieces stored.
- Storing luggage in an organized fashion for easy reference and access.
- Retrieving luggage based on ticket numbers provided by guests.
- If the houseman is busy or absent, the Living Room Attendant is responsible for bringing guest-requested items to rooms (e.g., dental kits, ice).
- The Living Room Attendant is expected to be inside the front doors of the living room or just outside on the drive to welcome and receive guests; the LRA should not leave these areas unless actively assisting guests or on break.
- The LRA should be knowledgeable about all property details and the surrounding area and be willing to assist with directions, transportation, and recommendations.
- The LRA should attend all stand-up meetings and pass along any important guest information including preferences and complaints.
- Exercise tact and discretion when dealing with guests and guests' property.
- Report any damages, shortcomings, and disturbances to supervisors.
- Check and maintain stock levels.
- Comply with all rules regarding health and safety of guests and coworkers.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Any other duties assigned by Supervisor/Manager.
- Experience:
Previous hotel valet/bellman experience preferred. - Must be at least 18.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clear motor vehicle record.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Effective verbal and written communication with guests and team members; basic English proficiency.
- Physical ability to stand, move, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive motions.
- Strong organizational skills, follow-up, time management, multitasking, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
