A Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) is needed to support elementary-aged students for a maternity-leave assignment in a school-based setting. The SLPA will work under the supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide high-quality speech and language services aligned with student needs and established treatment plans.
This role begins mid-January (flexible for an ASAP start) and continues through the end of the school year. The schedule is part-time, 3–4 days per week (32 hours weekly), with the option to increase to full-time if preferred.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct and indirect speech-language services under the guidance of the supervising SLP.
- Implement treatment plans and assist with monitoring and documenting student progress.
- Prepare materials and support therapeutic programming.
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and professional standards.
- Assist with screenings and other tasks permissible within the SLPA scope of practice.
- Collaborate professionally with staff and families to support student communication development.
- Follow all federal, state, and professional standards of practice.
- Associate degree from an accredited SLPA program OR bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders.
- Minimum of 100 hours of supervised fieldwork or equivalent clinical training.
- Active SLPA certification or licensure in Illinois.
- One (1) year of prior SLPA experience preferred.
- Compliance with all applicable state, federal, and professional practice standards.
- Completion of TB test (questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray, as applicable).
- Current health certificate if required by state or contract.
- Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements.
