Overview
The Health and Life Sciences Practice mission is to “transform healthcare through the relentless pursuit of a better way.” The team works with C‑suite and senior executives across the industry (Health Insurance, Health Services, Retail & Consumer Health, Healthcare Providers, Health IT, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Medical Device & Diagnostics) on strategic impact issues. We help clients define a roadmap for future growth, optimize operations, and lead in value‑based, consumer‑centric healthcare focusing on access, quality, experience and cost.
The practice also operates the Oliver Wyman Health Innovation Center (OWHIC) to develop market‑driven solutions to the crisis of high cost and poor quality.
Provides day‑to‑day leadership of client projects and client relationships, teaming with Partners and sharing responsibility for the success of specific engagements.
- Leads and manages complex programs to ensure on‑time delivery meeting agreed goals, leveraging Oliver Wyman best practice.
- Guides and influences clients across all situations, becoming trusted advisors.
- Engages fully in building business by identifying new and expanded opportunities.
- Creates exciting intellectual capital through thought leadership and is knowledgeable on broad adjacent topics.
- Develops others and builds a followership as part of asset building for the firm.
- Leads firm‑building activities, seen as a role model for firm values with a strong personal brand.
- 8+ years’ experience in healthcare or life sciences strategy consulting (preferred); or a combination of strategy consulting and health or life sciences industry experience.
- Expert‑level knowledge of payers/health services, providers, or life sciences.
- Experience with transactions/private equity.
- Track record of leading and managing teams and delivering against tight deadlines in fast‑paced environments.
- Strong background in conceptual problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to deploy expertise in thought leadership and other intellectual capital efforts to bolster business development.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, readiness to present work to senior executives at top‑tier clients.
- Undergraduate or advanced degree from a top academic program.
- Willingness to travel.
Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required for U.S. office locations. Oliver Wyman does not offer sponsorship for this position. CPT and OPT are restricted forms of work authorization.
Compensation and BenefitsThe applicable base salary range for this role is $250K–$265K. Base pay will be determined by experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education on a case‑by‑case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance‑based incentives. The total rewards package includes health and welfare benefits, tuition assistance, 401(k) savings, other retirement programs, and employee assistance programs.
