HRDI-Psychiatric Assessment Specialist (PAS)

HRDI, a certified community behavioral health clinic, is seeking a full‑time Psychiatric Assessment Specialist. This role conducts psychiatric assessments on clients requiring crisis evaluations to determine appropriate level of care, provides referrals for clients not needing hospitalization, and documents all evaluations.

• Respond to 100% of evaluation calls onsite within 90 minutes.
• Completely document the evaluation prior to departure from the ED 100% of the time.
• Ensure assessment includes the prescribed clinical evaluation of the individual.
• Determine most appropriate level of care and refer to linkage and outreach services based on eligibility and clinical evaluation.
• Ensure firm linkage of the individual with the authorized level of care.
• Document evaluation, recommendations, and disposition outcome for the individual.
• Complete a psychological assessment, including Mental Health Exam, past/present psychiatric history, family history, substance abuse history, suicide risk assessment, evaluating functional level prior to admission, and determining level of risk.
• Within confidentiality, counsel family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting clients.
• Refer patients, clients, or family members to community resources or specialists as necessary.
• Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports.

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or an appropriate human service field.
• Minimum three years’ experience in a psychiatric emergency room or crisis intervention in a multidisciplinary setting (preferred).
• Strong understanding of DSM‑IV‑TR criteria for diagnosing mental health/substance abuse patients and the Illinois Mental Health Code.
• Knowledge of Community Mental Health, Rule 132, and the Department of Mental Health.
• Ability to formulate the Five‑Axis diagnoses and an initial treatment plan.
• Proficiency in evaluating client's functional level prior to admission and determining level of risk.
• Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe, etc.).
• High problem‑solving skills and ability to work effectively with people.
• Detail oriented and flexible.
• Effective communication skills and ability to serve as liaison to primary referral sources, families, team members, school districts, community agencies, and signatory partners.
• Good communication skills and team relations to provide accurate handoffs in acute situations.

Salary: $45,000 – $47,000.
