FULL TIME position
Job SummaryProvides Music therapy services to patients in one or more programs of the hospital within the therapeutic milieu. Works as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning, implementing and evaluating individualized treatment plans. The Music Therapist also provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention and activities of daily living.
Responsibilities- Provide music therapy services to patients within one or more hospital programs.
- Collaborate as a member of a multidisciplinary team to plan, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans.
- Provide direct patient care under supervision of a registered nurse.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu; assist with crisis intervention and activities of daily living as needed.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy or related field required;
Master’s Degree preferred. - Experience: One year experience working with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting.
- Licensure/Certification: Music Therapy Certification (or eligible) by the professional organization in the area(s) of expertise preferred. Lifesaving and/or water safety instructor certification desirable.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of case management, discharge planning, group leadership skills, age-specific growth and development, crisis and behavior management, family therapy theory and practice. Knowledge of psychosocial assessments. Ability to work cooperatively with hospital staff and community agencies. Good organization skills and oral/written communication.
- Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units serving varied populations including children, adolescents, pre-adolescents and adults.
