Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical position requiring an active IL license, 2 years of recent acute Med/Surg experience, and mandatory floating.

Responsibilities

• Hospital-based Medical Surgical unit at a Level 1 Trauma Center

• Night shift schedule: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

• Weekend work required every other weekend (2 weekends per month)

• Mandatory floating to various Cook County facilities and units within a 50-mile range at the facility’s discretion

• Not eligible for block scheduling or special scheduling requests

• Patient charting via Cerner EMR

• Responsibilities include providing bedside nursing care to a diverse Med/Surg population in a Level 1 Trauma environment

• Strict adherence to compliance and timely submission of required documentation is expected

• Scrub color is navy blue and scrubs are not provided

• Orientation and full recredentialing required for returning resources, regardless of previous breaks in contract

• Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of accepting assignment

• Holiday RTO is not permitted; no time off allowed on holidays or adjacent days

• No more than 5 days of RTO allowed, with a maximum of 2 consecutive days, and no RTO approved for weekends

• If floated outside primary competency, a team-based care model will be used

Requirements

• Active IL RN license in hand required at the time of consideration

• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Med/Surg RN experience required

• BLS and NIHSS certifications required

• ACLS certification preferred

• COVID-19 vaccination required (booster not required)

• Must reside within a 75-mile radius of the facility to be considered as a local candidate

• Pending licensure not accepted
