Responsibilities
The PHP Therapist provides direct patient care under the supervision of the Clinical Program Manager. Primary responsibilities include creating a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, daily living activities, conducting contraband searches, social history assessment interviews, producing social work assessment updates, documenting medical records, psychosocial histories, discharge planning, patient contacts, treatment updates, and creating individual and master treatment plans. The Therapist implements programs, conducts individual and family counseling sessions, runs group sessions, creates and revises group topics and materials, documents progress notes and group session notes, follows through on discharge and aftercare planning, coordinates with support networks (DCFS, SASS, School Social Workers, teachers), identifies appropriate referral for post‑discharge services, and attends multidisciplinary treatment staffing as assigned.
Qualifications- Education: Master’s Degree in Psychology or related field.
- Experience: 1–3 years working with a psychiatric patient population preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: LSW or LPC preferred. BLS Provider and CPR certification required and must remain active.
- Knowledge: Psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships, age‑specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, CPI leadership skills, diagnostic understanding of behaviors in a milieu, and CPR training.
- Supervision Received: Director of PHP.
