Pay Range: $32.00 - $52.08 per hour

Summary:
The IR Technologist 1 is an entry-level position with primary responsibilities in the area of medical instrumentation operation, use of permanent fluoroscopic and digital x-ray systems, operation of CT and Combined CT fluoroscopic systems, ultrasounds and other diagnostic and therapeutic devices. The IR Tech 1 will demonstrate beginner understanding and basic knowledge on the use of all imaging equipment. This role will provide fluoroscopic and CT Imaging for the broad patient population applying protocols defined by the organization’s Radiologists.
This role will produce images that meet the quality expectations of the department. The technologist skills and knowledge will be utilized in a variety of diagnostic and interventional procedures. The position actively supports the Hospital’s and Department’s Continuous Quality Improvement and customer service goals, individually and as an effective team member. Required Job Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited Radiography program
- Valid Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) license
- Registry or Registry-eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; if registry eligible, must be registered within 6 months of employment
- Proficient in modality physics and operation of equipment
- Valid BLS certification
- Demonstrates good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Working knowledge of the IT systems that support the modality
- 0-1.5 years of experience to hire; expected to move to level 2 within 6 months – 1 year from hire
Physical Demands
- Requires full range body motion including handling and lifting patients when necessary
- Stand up to three hours wearing a up to a 40-pound lead apron
- The IR tech 1 will provide patient and family focused care that supports a welcoming and supportive environment and a positive patient experience
- The IR Tech 1 will at times be required to directly assist the attending physician/fellow during procedures by setting up the instrument table, prepping and draping the patient, assisting with catheter and device manipulations, prepping of devices/implants
- The Tech 1 may function in a circulator role during a procedure. In this capacity, the IR Tech will monitor the status and condition of the patient and act as an unsterile assistant to personnel directly performing the procedure. A thorough knowledge of supplies, equipment and procedural resources and their location will be necessary
- Reports supply shortage or equipment failure to section supervisor
- Produces work in an efficient manner that meets departmental productivity standards
- Understands and follows departmental protocols and procedures in the performance of exams and produces work that meets quality standards
- The Technologist will attend outside educational programs and attend Departmental meetings and conferences for staff development
- The IR Tech Level 1 is expected to expand knowledge and skills in order to advance to a Tech 2 position within 6 months to 1 year from hire
- Technical Practice
- The Tech 1 will be responsible for the technical operation and begin to develop troubleshooting skills for radiographic, fluoroscopic, video, CT and digital processing equipment
- The Tech 1 will set-up, calibrate and operate the instrumentation used for the management of Interventional Radiology procedures
- The Tech 1 will be responsible for the integrity as well as the archival of the patient’s procedural data
- Due to the complex nature and potential hazards within the IR Lab the Technologist will be required to help maintain a safe and organized work environment
- The Technologist may be called upon to perform certain additional tasks that may be assigned by the Medical Director, Manager or Director
