The Physical Therapist is responsible for providing physical therapy services within their clinical competence, including examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, development and implementation of a plan of care that includes direct intervention, communication, collaboration, patient education, and outcome evaluation.
Duties & Responsibilities- Performs the duties of a professional Physical Therapist for an assigned caseload with emphasis on providing comprehensive care.
- Uphold professional standards and promote quality in practice.
- Direct Patient Care time (actual time with patients) – includes all direct interventions and patient education integrated as part of treatment sessions.
- Indirect Patient Care (IPC) – time spent in chart review, documentation related to patient care, scheduling, attending team or family meetings and rounds, ordering equipment, and assisting other staff.
- Handle administrative tasks related to patient care services, department operations, and regulatory/organizational compliance (time sheets, case presentations, staff meetings, committee meetings, in services).
- Engage in professional development and share expertise to support the role of physical therapy within the health system and community.
- Provide clinical teaching for students and student clinicians; may provide academic teaching.
- Participation in alternative productivity expectations as determined by departmental needs.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
- Experience in inpatient acute care preferred.
