Weekly outpatient therapy isn't always enough, and a trip to the ER isn't the only answer. Patients and their families rely on Compass Health Center when in crisis – every day, we help people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.
About This RoleOur Family Therapists play a key role in our multi-disciplinary teams and work to ensure synergy across treatment. As a Family Therapist, you’ll conduct family sessions with patients and their loved ones that will aim at providing support, offering education, and promoting collaboration. If your passion is helping those who are working to support our patients, you would be a great addition to our team.
Our centrally located Chicago office is nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of North Center, not to mention the social events hosted on our fully furnished rooftop!
What You’ll Do- Facilitate family sessions for a caseload of assigned adolescent patients (ages 14-18) and their loved ones
- Provide guidance and support to patients and family members to help promote goals and encourage patients’ progress through the program
- Provide direction to families about effective ways of supporting patients. Discussion topics and family therapy goals include safety plans, incorporating skill implementation, improving communication, creating contracts
- Work with various presenting issues including depression and anxiety
- Assist in supporting families through phone coaching and follow-up calls
- Coordinate with the treatment team by attending rounds and other program meetings regularly and by using electronic systems of communication
- Communicate with outside providers conducting family therapy for continuity of care
- Collaborate with the treatment team in assessing the patient’s progress and need for higher level of care, stepdown, or discharge
- Help the family coordinate an effective discharge plan
- Provide individual support to patients as needed
- Contribute clinical observations and insights during interdisciplinary meetings
- Chart progress of patients appropriately in the electronic medical record
- Participate in program meetings as needed
- Work on projects focused on program improvement and the overall growth and development of Compass
- Participate in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings/monthly family therapy meetings
- Are a psychologist or master’s level therapist (required)
- Hold one of the following licenses:
PhD, PsyD, LCSW, or LCPC (preferred) - 1+ years clinical work experience post‑master’s (strongly preferred)
- Have knowledge and experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as other evidence‑based therapies, ideally in the context of delivering family therapy
- Have experience with patients in crisis, ideally prior experience working in partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, inpatient hospital, or residential setting
$55,000 – $90,000 USD
