Ultrasonographer – OBGYN Full Time Days

Northwestern Memorial Hospital is seeking an Ultrasonographer to support the physician with technically expert diagnostic ultrasound and related procedures for OBGYN patients.

Salary

$43.26 – $60.56 hourly. Placement within the range depends on relevant work experience and internal equity. For union‑represented positions, placement follows the collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities
  • Assess the patient, evaluate the request for diagnostic ultrasound services, and determine the appropriate method of application.
  • Prepare equipment/accessories, complete sterile tray preparation, position the patient, and perform ultrasound and related procedures.
  • Lift and transport patients to and from imaging devices.
  • Provide patient education before, during, and after the procedure.
  • Observe the patient and communicate pertinent information to the physician.
  • Generate patient reports and send acquired images electronically for accession/retrieval.
  • Ensure continuity of care through effective interactions with other departments.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, and report deficiencies to management.
  • Monitor supply stock to ensure adequate reserves.
  • Collect data to measure and track quality management.
  • Support department initiatives (process improvement, problem solving).
  • Instruct and provide clinical guidance to students.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification.
  • Diploma or certificate of completion from an accredited medical sonography program.
  • Zero to two years of experience in a relevant role.
  • Technical competency in the relevant specialty.
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification relevant to specialty area/modality. (RVT through ARDMS or RVS certification through Cardiovascular Credentialing International accepted for vascular.)
  • Physical Demand Requirement: ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and provide a push/pull force up to 50 pounds.
Preferred
  • Associate or bachelor's degree.
  • Three or more years of experience.
  • Additional certification relevant to specialty area.
