Job DescriptionThe Occupational Therapist (OT) provides occupational therapy services within the scope of professional practice to pediatric patients, including inpatient, outpatient, early intervention and physician clinic settings. The OT delivers comprehensive, evidence-based, patient-centered care, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and maintains the highest professional standards. The OT may supervise allied health students and contribute to department educational activities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct, billed occupational therapy services to pediatric patients, selecting appropriate assessment tools and implementing evidence-based interventions.
- Communicate effectively and timely with patients, families, physicians, payers, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and charting in compliance with hospital and regulatory requirements.
- Advocate for patients, complete medical necessity letters, and develop and monitor care plans.
- Participate in departmental and hospital committees, case conferences, and educational activities.
- Supervise and train allied health students and trainees in clinical practice.
- Maintain billing accuracy and complete all required administrative activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy;
Master’s degree preferred. - Minimum 1–3 years pediatric OT experience (hospital-based or Early Intervention). Graduate Occupational Therapist (GOT) candidates may be considered under supervision and appropriate credentialing.
- Illinois State license and certification by the Board of Registry of NBCOT. CPR certification required (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
- Bi-lingual (Spanish and English) preferred.
