Breast Ultrasound Technologist – Part Time
Unified Women's Healthcare – Unified Mammography Services (UMAMS), a subsidiary, offers in‑office breast imaging services utilizing top‑of‑the‑line equipment and expert staff. The position is located at 737 N Michigan Ave, Suite 620, Chicago, IL 60611.
Retention Bonus: $3,000.00
OverviewThe Breast Ultrasound Technologist works directly with the operations manager, office manager, and other staff. The Sonographer performs clinical breast ultrasound procedures, using background knowledge in anatomy, physiology, physics, and instrumentation to provide technical information to aid the radiologist in diagnosis. Strong social perceptiveness, critical thinking, clear communication, active listening, and patient sensitivity are essential.
Work ScheduleThursday and Friday (Daytime Hours)
Responsibilities- Perform the ultrasound and ensure the transducer captures images correctly
- Explain the ultrasound procedure to patients to avoid confusion
- Maintain ultrasound equipment and sterilize the room used for the procedure
- Evaluate image quality and interpret clinical findings
- Present images and preliminary findings to physicians and the healthcare team
- Maintain patient records and add medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure
- Work closely with Mammography technologists and the radiologist to ensure appropriate information and prior imaging are captured
- Review all prior images and reports before completing an exam
- Utilize PACS, EMR, and any other imaging systems
- Attend Unified and UMAMS meetings
- Complete all assigned compliance and education requirements
- Assist in special projects
Other duties as assigned - Train other technologists as needed
- ARDMS registered sonographer
- Must be or be eligible to obtain within 6 months of hire, an ARDMS Advanced Breast Registry or ARRT Breast Sonography certification
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Breast Sonographer
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Highly organized and detail‑oriented
- Previous experience in an imaging environment is highly desirable
- Proficient in PACS and RIS Systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Effective English communication and safety instruction following required
- Reading and writing in English required for documentation, reports, compliance
- Ability to interact with customers, clients, or regulators in English as needed
USD $48.00/hr – $60.00/hr
