Sterile Processing Technician

Sterile Processing Technician Position Purposes:
Performs duties associated with the Surgical Instrument Tray inventory, sorting Surgical Instrumentation ,Surgical Instrumentation Tray stocking, packaging, reprocessing, sterilizing, assembling, and distribution of medical and surgical case carts for surgical cases .

• Wraps, seals, and labels articles for identification, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instrumentation.
• Sterilization Records documentation on V-pro , steam sterilization , Infrared temperature gun testing .
• Surgical loaner instrumentation documentation , sterilization processing , record keeping
• Decontaminates and cleans equipment according to established AAMI guidelines and policies.
• Inspects instruments for proper working condition and identifies items for repair.
• Assembles and accounts for all instruments trays requiring a tray listing.
• Monitors sterilizers by checking indicators and charts to ensure proper functioning and processing of the sterilizer units.
• Logs data pertaining to the biological and chemical indicators in relation to the sterilizer operations and according to the established Saint Anthony policies.
• Completes duties associated with the soiled utility rounds and assists where needed with a situation requiring immediate attention.
• Adheres to established guidelines and procedures of Saint Anthony Hospital and ensures a clean, organized and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA standards.
• Coordinates routine activities between surgical suite personnel to include adjustments to schedules.
• Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.
• Performs , records , checks all washer , sterilizer , ultrasonic machines testing including all bio-logical testing , bowie dick air removal.
• Respond to all Surgical phone calls delivering surgical cases to OR rooms in a timely manner including add-on and emergency cases
• Maintains Surgical Emergency case carts including turn-overs for daily surgical items
• Performs and maintains instrument repair rotations for preventive maintenance for surgical instrumentation
• Performs sterilization peel packing , for Labor & Delivery , Emergency department, outside clinics , surgery and GI departments.
• Performs testing for all ridged scopes , documents , on daily basis
• Performs leak testing on ridged surgical scopes , cameras ,and powered instruments
• Performs IUSS daily dart testing and weekly bio-logical

Demonstrates knowledge of pertinent aspects and competency with protocols related to the use of chemical disinfection, high level disinfection, and sterilization if required as part of the responsibilities of the role.
