Compensation

Base pay range: $22.00/hr - $30.00/hr

Operating Room Technician Certified reports to the Director of Surgical Services and assists in nursing care activities under the direction of a registered nurse. Responsibilities include direct patient care, aseptic technique, equipment sterilization, and collaboration with the surgical team.

• Assist with planning and implementation of direct patient care activities.
• Provide physical comfort, safety, and emotional welfare of the surgical patient.
• Collaborate cooperatively as a team member with all related departments.
• Maintain principles of aseptic technique.
• Prepare room, check supplies, and ensure patient safety during the operation.
• Assist the primary registered nurse circulator with delegated circulating duties.
• Assist in room clean‑up between surgical cases.
• Sterilize surgical equipment according to manufacturer recommendations.
• Take inventories of all equipment and supplies.
• Recognize and act appropriately in emergency situations.
• Participate in staff conferences as a member of the operating room nursing team.
• Assist with orientation of new staff and revision of departmental procedures.
• Share new knowledge with staff and maintain a clean and orderly environment.
• Follow hospital and operating room policies, rules and regulations, and fire and safety regulations.
• Maintain strict sharps protocol and standard precautions.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma required.
• Current Surgical Technologist Certification preferred.
• Completed Surgical Technology course in operating room technique; evidence of basic science and aseptic technique training.
• Documentation of ongoing education activities required.
• Professional membership preferred.
• Prior experience as an operating room technician preferred.
• Teamplayer with strong interpersonal skills.
