Lead Ultrasound Technologist

Schedule: Full Time, Day Shift
Job Summary: The Lead Ultrasound Technologist assists the Director, Manager, and Supervisor with day-to-day supervision and coordination of assigned personnel. Routine responsibilities include preparing departmental staff schedules, assisting with inspections, participating in quality control and image critique activities, managing supplies, daily billing reconciliation, and providing guidance and interventions for employees and patients as needed.
Responsibilities- Performs ultrasound exams per department protocol.
- Performs the quality control functions related to ultrasound.
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, protocols, and healthcare regulations.
- Maintain high standards of patient safety and quality care.
- In collaboration with the Medical Imaging Supervisor, assign work schedules, monitor attendance, and ensure adequate staffing levels for the Ultrasound Department.
- Inventories departmental supplies and keeps stock to appropriate par levels.
- In collaboration with Medical Imaging Supervisor & Imaging Manager, maintain employee files.
- Onboard new staff members and provide continuing education opportunities. This includes routine image critique on Teams for educational support and interventions to maintain quality and standard of care.
- Serve as a liaison between staff, patients, families, and hospital administration.
- Address patient concerns and improve service delivery.
- Promote a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Ensure proper maintenance and functionality of ultrasound equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with Imaging Director, Imaging Manager, Imaging Supervisor, and Radiology Chair.
- Contribute updates to ultrasound imaging policies, workflows, and protocols in collaboration with the leadership team.
- 5+ years’ experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.
- 1+ years of leadership experience – preferred.
- Excellent oral & written communication skills.
- Knowledge and skillset to perform all exams (within the scope of an Ultrasound Technologist) on patients from newborn to geriatric.
- Successful completion of an approved ultrasound program.
- ARDMS certification required.
- Bachelor’s degree – preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of cross-sectional anatomy and physics of ultrasound theory.
- BLS required.
