Clinical Lab - Chemistry Hematology and Blood Bank
Schedule:
Days – 6:30am–3pm with rotating holidays and weekends as per business needs.

Location:
2233 W Division St, Chicago, IL 60622. Free parking available.
- Perform waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by CLIA in accordance with CFR 493.1425 and 493.1495.
- Adhere to laboratory procedures for the collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
- Follow laboratory quality control policies and document corrective actions when test systems deviate from performance specifications.
- Identify problems affecting test performance and either correct them or notify the supervisor, Director, or Medical Director.
- Execute laboratory procedures requiring independent judgment using manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and other disciplines.
- Conduct instrument and equipment maintenance daily, weekly, monthly, or as needed.
- Review accuracy of patient results before releasing or reporting.
- Recognize age‑specific differences in expected results for newborns to geriatrics.
- Perform and reconcile proficiency testing samples in the same manner as patient samples and report to appropriate agencies.
- Possibly perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on various age groups.
- Assist in developing and maintaining laboratory policies and procedures.
- Adhere to department and hospital policies regarding safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources.
- Act as Lead Technician in the absence of a supervisor, responsible for the section or department during the shift.
- Potentially handle LIS and/or POCT responsibilities.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the department manager/director.
- ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.
- One year of hospital laboratory work experience preferred, but not required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements as specified in CLIA.
- Current and valid state license if required in that state.

Estimated compensation for this role is $26.75 to $38.74 per hour, with exact salary determined at hiring.
