Project Assistant IV
Biological Sciences Division – General Surgery, University of Chicago.
Job SummaryUnder minimal supervision, the Project Assistant IV provides highly complex clerical support for the academic, clinical, and administrative operations and services of the Section of General Surgery. May serve as subject‑matter expert for other clerical staff.
Responsibilities- Provides clerical support for faculty, including calendar management, screening patient calls and requests, preparing and updating patient files in EPIC, scheduling in EPIC, processing & disseminating referring physician letters, coordinating compliance, professional practice evaluations, credentialing efforts, processing orders on Buy Site, and processing financial transactions in GEMS, ePayment and ACCTS cost transfer systems.
- Provides prompt resolution to highly complex clerical problems and offers guidance on problem resolution to other clerical support staff.
- Provides basic educational information to patients and families about procedures and surgeries.
- Creates and maintains spreadsheets and databases, and may provide lead support with data entry and data projects.
- Adapts workflows to accommodate needs, priorities, and fluctuations in patient volumes according to faculty and leadership expectations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required;
Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Five years of office experience required.
- Hospital or academic medicine experience required.
- Electronic medical record (EMR) experience preferred.
- Patient scheduling experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Standard office environment.
- May sit and stand for extended periods.
- May make repetitive wrist, hand or finger movements.
Hourly rate: $23.08 – $33.79 per hour. Benefits include health, retirement and paid time off for eligible employees.
