Medical Sonographers operate specialized equipment that transmits high frequency ultrasound waves to produce images of the areas scanned. Sonographers in this series primarily scan abdominal, pelvic, lower and upper extremities areas of the body (such as the spleen, liver, pancreas, uterus, kidneys, or thyroid) or perform OB/GYN related procedures.

• Performs general ultrasound scans on anatomical regions such as abdomen, pelvis, and small parts
• Utilizes proper settings on the ultrasound equipment and patient tables for optimal scanning
• Assembles supply kits and instruments for exams such as thoracentesis, paracentesis and assists physicians with the performance of these procedures
• Cleans and disinfects transducers according to established infection control standards and manufacturer instructions for use
• Utilizes the electronic medical record and imaging information systems for processing, storing images and documentation
• Stocks supplies in the rooms and alerts manager when inventory is low
• Confers with a radiologist to ensure complete acquisition and selection of images is performed
• Communicates with other clinical departments to coordinate patient care activities
• Instructs technical students and collaborates with residents
• Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Current/valid registration, certification or licensure in Medical Sonography, accreditation in sonography by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS).
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification from the American Heart Association.

Flex days, some mid‑shift and evenings with rotating weekends and holidays;
On‑Call rotation.
