The salary range for this position is $30.85 - $44.73 per hour. Placement within the range is based on factors such as relevant work experience, internal equity, and collective bargaining agreement rules for unionized positions.

The Staff Radiographer performs diagnostic imaging procedures using radiographic equipment to generate information necessary for the diagnosis and subsequent treatment of patients in accordance with industry, departmental, hospital and IEMA policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Assess and evaluate the physician’s orders for radiological examinations according to departmental procedure.
- Evaluate the request for the procedure and assess the patient to determine the appropriate protocol.
- Advise the patient on radiation safety matters as appropriate.
- Educate the patient about the examination, reduce anxiety, and provide comfort during the procedure.
- Position the patient and perform the diagnostic imaging procedure utilizing appropriate equipment, caring for the patient throughout the procedure according to departmental and hospital standards of nursing care, age‑specific and “Patients First” guidelines.
- Complete and maintain the patient’s medical record.
- Perform electronic quality analysis of the radiographic image.
- Adhere to research protocols and maintain records for research data.
- Report equipment failure, irregularities or disrepair to the supervisor promptly.
- Supply and maintain the exam room in a manner consistent with department standards.
- Assist in the education of house staff, student technologists and ancillary personnel regarding diagnostic imaging.
- Facilitate scheduling and transportation of patients.
- Provide patient data with optimum quality and productivity to ensure high customer satisfaction.
- Collect data to support measurement and tracking of quality management.
- Participate in formal and informal process improvement and problem solving to enhance service quality.
- Ensure continuity of care through effective interactions with other departments.
- Graduation from an accredited radiography program with competencies in evaluating and caring for pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients.
- Certification in radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology.
- Active license with the Illinois Emergency Management Administration.
- CPR – Basic Life Support.
- Associate’s Degree in Applied Science, Radiography or Certificate of Completion of a hospital‑sponsored radiography program.
- Physical demands: ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds and exert a push/pull force up to 50 pounds.
- Three to five years of experience in radiography at a health care institution.
- Extensive computer knowledge.
- Experience with clinical research.
- Familiarity with radiation safety and related procedures.
