Student Nurse Extern Program - Summer 2026

The salary range for this position is $18.00 per hour. Placement within the range depends on experience and internal equity. Positions represented by a labor union use the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

We are seeking nursing students with expected graduation dates of August 2027, December 2027, or Spring 2028. Students with upcoming graduation dates of August 2026, December 2026, or Spring 2027 should apply to the Student Nurse Internship program instead.

The Student Nurse Extern participates in the Patient Care Technician role under supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include assisting with direct and indirect nursing care, gathering patient data, performing tasks for activities of daily living to promote comfort and safety, and performing selected procedures within the scope of unlicensed assistive personnel.

Hours

Your schedule will be coordinated with the Patient Care Manager and may include:

  • Day or Night Shift
  • Full‑time schedule—8 or 12‑hour shifts
  • Some weekend shifts
  • No holidays or overtime

Qualifications
  • Nursing students from an accredited school who have completed Fundamentals of Nursing clinical rotation or a certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program. Provide documentation of successful completion.
  • Graduation date of August 2027, December 2027, or Spring 2028.
  • Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare certification.
  • Reliable, flexible, and punctual with schedules.
