Position: Addictions Counselor/CADC (Master's degree required) - IOP Program

Position:
Addictions Counselor Responsibilities

  • Perform ETOC/Substance Abuse assessments.
  • Provide group and individual counseling.
  • Participate in patient treatment planning and continuum of care.
  • Provide patient and family education relative to substance abuse/psychiatric problems.
  • Develop comprehensive patient discharge plans.
  • Understand and consider age‑specific developmental issues to provide appropriate assessment interpretation and needed interventions.
  • Consider basic growth and development needs specific to the age and population served.
  • Conduct educational workshops as required.
  • Serve as a liaison with self‑help groups and EAP professionals.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of all services provided.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services required by IOP treatment programs.

Bi‑lingual counselors encouraged to apply.

Job Specifications

To perform this job successfully an individual must demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications below represent the knowledge, skill, and ability required for the position. Bi‑lingual certified counselors preferred.

Qualifications
  • Education: Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Experience in a psychiatric setting working with various populations required; bi‑lingual candidates encouraged to apply.
  • Licensure/Certification: CADC through IAODAPCA or ICRC.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with Illinois Confidentiality Act and Illinois Mental Health Code; good written and oral communication skills.
