General Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Director/Supervisor, Emergency Department responsible for greeting and providing directions to all patients, visitors and employees who enter through the emergency department. Manages initial contact and complaint registration for all emergency department patients. Controls access to the hospital and issues passes according to hospital policy.
What You Will Do- Greetand sign-in all emergency department patients with time, name and complaint recorded.
- Perform quick registration of ED patients in the HIS and Emergisoft systems.
- Directall patients and visitors to the waiting room to await triage.
- Notify triage nurse if a patient needs immediate assistance.
- Monitor waiting room for any problems and notifies security or the triage nurse as needed.
- Issues visitor passes according to the hospital policy and controls access to the hospital.
- Update visitor passes as patients are admitted, moved or discharged.
- Answerall nurse calls to the ED giving the caller referral information.
- Answers telephones, directs calls, pages Supervisors and Employees,
- Assist registration with assembling charts.
- Other duties as assigned to assist registration and triage
- Provide tokens to the parking structure according to hospital guidelines and assist customers in obtaining cab service.
- Maintaina professional and well-groomed appearance and assures that the waiting area is clean and well maintained.
- Assume responsibility of ED waiting area during code alarms.
- Observeand adheres to safety regulations and practices.
- Contribute to a positive work climate and overall team effort of the department.
- Performrelated responsibilities as required or directed.
- HS Diploma or GED
- Skill and proficiency to read write and use basic grammar skills, and academic sufficiency as required through official completion of high school or its equivalent.
- Bilingual Spanish required
- Ability to perform receptionist and registration duties with responsibilities as normally acquired through prior experience. Interpersonal
- Ability to interacts effectively with the public, Employees, the medical community, patients and families in order to exchange information and enforce policy.
- Communicates intelligently with outside agencies, including the Police Department and the Fire Department on a frequent basis.
- Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations as required in the daily work.
- Position requires the use of Microsoft Word and Excel, hospital network and other related equipment.
Preferred experience as an ED technician, CNA, Patient Care Technician or Licensed Practice Nurse in the Emergency Room but not required
Knowledge and SkillsKnowledge and Skills within the scope of practice of an EMT-B, EMT-P, CNA, Certified MA, or Licensed Practice Nurse
Experience Preferred in EPIC EHR system
Certifications/LicensesOne of the following certifications or licenses:
Graduate of Emergency Medical Technician
