Job SummaryThe Pharmacy Technician reports directly to the Manager/Director of Pharmacy or Registered Pharmacist and, according to standard procedures, dispenses additives for IV and irrigating solutions. Responsibilities include mixing IV additive solutions using aseptic technique, typing labels, preparing charge slips, and performing other related duties.
Essential Functions- Assist the pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medication.
- Mix pharmaceutical preparations, fill bottles with prescribed tablets and capsules, and prepare labels for bottles.
- Fills orders with correct medications and prepares unit‑of‑use dosage when possible.
- Process records of medication and equipment dispensed to patients, compute charges, and enter data in the computer system.
- Prepare intravenous (IV) packs and generate required reports; pick IV production reports. Perform backup procedures correctly.
- Recycle product as appropriate, change preparation and expiration dates on recycled product.
- Date, time, and initial all vials for reuse.
- Prioritize work (e.g., “stats” first), deliver IVs to proper locations, restock shelves, rotate stock, and dispose of non‑recyclable solutions. Maintain IV refrigerator temperature log.
- Receive and store incoming supplies; count stock and enter data in computer to maintain inventory records.
- Return medications to stock and rotate stock. Fill requisitions from nursing floors in a timely fashion. Calculate appropriate medication doses based on patient age (adult and geriatric).
- Clean equipment and sterilize glassware according to prescribed methods.
- Effective written and verbal communication with clinical staff.

Pay Range: $21.01‑$31.22/hr.

Qualifications Education- High School diploma or equivalent.
- State Certification/Licensure if required by state.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital pharmacy setting preferred.
- Basic understanding of the role of and use of a computer in the processing of prescription orders with minimum word‑processing skills.
