The salary range for this position is $43.35 – $60.70 (Hourly Rate). Placement within the salary range depends on factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement is guided by the collective bargaining agreement.

As a Sonographer Multimodality, you will perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures according to industry standards, departmental policies, and all applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements.
Responsibilities- Evaluate requests for diagnostic, vascular, and OB/GYN ultrasound services; assess patients to determine appropriate procedure protocols.
- Utilize equipment and accessories, employ techniques, and perform services in accordance with accepted standards to generate high quality ultrasound images.
- Provide patient education in written and verbal form prior to, during, and after procedures to reduce anxiety and enhance comfort.
- Act as an agent to observe and communicate pertinent information for physicians to aid diagnosis and treatment management.
- Set‑up and sterile tray preparation, including procedure‑specific needs, medications, guide wires, catheters, and other ancillary equipment.
- Provide instruction and clinical supervision to ultrasound students enrolled in approved programs.
- Care for patients throughout procedures according to departmental and hospital standards, including lifting and transporting patients to imaging devices.
- Assist patients personally before exams, provide thorough explanations of procedures and risks, and coordinate schedules.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of anatomy and diagnostic performance for the entire body.
- Document imaging procedures manually and electronically to ensure correct charging and patient/file tracking.
- Transmit acquired images to PACS with correct accession numbers.
- Compose preliminary reports and manage work lists and triage exams.
- Monitor inventory of supplies, reorder, rotate, and maintain clean imaging rooms.
- Report equipment failures or irregularities to supervisors promptly.
- Perform venous duplex lower extremity ultrasounds per vascular laboratory protocol.
- Create preliminary reports in Prosolv and verify placement in Power Chart.
- Record acute findings and notify ordering physicians; log time in Prosolv.
- Generate patient visit outcomes in Data Check.
- Deliver optimum quality imaging and optimal productivity with excellent customer service.
- Collect data to support quality‑management metrics.
- Participate in process improvement to enhance service quality.
- Identify improvement areas and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure continuity of care through cross‑departmental communication.
Required:
- Completion of a two‑year college‑based training program with clinical education in an accredited health‑care setting.
- Technical competency in General Abdominal/Small Parts scanning, Abdominal Doppler, General Gynecological, 1st trimester Obstetrical, and Venous Lower Extremity scanning.
- Graduation from an accredited ultrasound program.
- ARDMS certification in at least two of the following:
Abdomen (AB), Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN), Vascular Technology (VT); third certification to be obtained within six months of hire. - CPR/BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical demands: lift/carry up to 50 lb and push/pull up to 50 lb.
Preferred:
- Three years of experience as a sonographer.
- ARDMS VT, OB/GYN, and AB certification prior to hire.
