- Supervise and provide daily oversight to Land Acquisition/Disposition Officers engaged in the management, acquisition, and disposition of City‑owned real estate assets.
- Coordinate and delegate real‑estate tasks related to the City’s lot inventory to ensure efficient processing, compliance with City policies, and timely completion of assignments.
- Oversee property transactions, including ordering and reviewing title commitments, obtaining valuations, preparing pre‑closing documentation, and ensuring adherence to all legal and procedural requirements.
- Collaborate with other City departments, legal staff, aldermanic offices, and external agencies to resolve property ownership, valuation, and title issues.
- Review and approve reports, memos, and documentation prepared by staff to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with departmental and legal standards.
- Develop and implement process improvements to streamline real‑estate functions and increase operational efficiency within the Land Acquisition/Disposition Division.
- Prepare and present updates on land acquisition and disposition activities to departmental leadership, City Council committees, and other stakeholders.
- Provide training and mentorship to staff, fostering professional growth and ensuring consistent application of departmental procedures.
- Perform related duties as required to support the Director of Land Acquisition/Disposition in achieving the division’s strategic objectives.
- Seven (7) years of working experience in the sale, development, and disposition of real estate;
- OR an Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Architecture, or related field, plus five (5) years of relevant experience;
- OR a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Architecture, or related field, plus three (3) years of relevant experience;
- OR a Master’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Public Administration, Architecture, or related field, plus two (2) years of relevant experience.
This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position, based on the oral parts of the interview, will be selected.
Preference Will Be Given To Candidates Possessing The Following- Previous supervisory work experience related to the job duties.
- Previous work experience with the City of Chicago procurement process.
- Previous work experience with Real Estate Records/Websites (reading/understanding tax plats, deeds, ownership chains, zoning, land use, etc).
- Previous work experience making public presentations to groups and organizations.
- Work experience with Real Estate transactions including closings.
