This Senior Executive Service (SES) position is in Region 5, Land, Chemicals and Redevelopment Division. About Region
5. This is an office-centered position--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.
The Land, Chemicals and Redevelopment Division (LCARD) is responsible for implementing various environmental laws including:
The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, including hazardous waste, non-hazardous waste, underground storage tanks, and leaking underground storage tanks;
The brownfields provisions of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act;
The Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act;
The Toxic Substances Control Act;
The Residential Lead Based Paint Hazard Reduction Act;
The Pollution Prevention Act of 1990. Specific duties of the Director of LCARD include:
Serving as key participant in regional and national strategic and operational planning activities with respect to the programs managed by the Division, making determinations regarding priority areas, investments and disinvestments, and ensuring completion of assigned projects or priorities. Providing overall direction and management for a multidisciplinary staff organized across multiple branches. Accomplishing or directing the actions involved in coordinating the program with internal and external organizations including key officials of EPA;
other federal agencies, state, local and tribal governments; private industry; environmental organizations and the public. Accomplishing or directing the actions involved in determining the effect of proposed or enacted federal or state legislation, new or proposed program requirements, new or improved technology, emergency situations, court decisions, etc. Ensuring that extramural resources, both procurement (contracts) and assistance (grants, cooperative agreements, and interagency agreements), are efficiently and appropriately managed to maximize use of the Agency's resources.
