Job SummaryThe Inspector General Investigator is a full-time position reporting directly to the Inspector General. The Inspector General Investigator investigates corruption, waste, fraud, mismanagement and misconduct involving employees of the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court (Clerk’s Office). The Inspector General Investigator handles co-workers and clients with respect and courtesy when performing the job duties.
Responsibilities- Investigates allegations of corruption, waste, fraud, mismanagement and misconduct involving employees within the Clerk’s Office, as assigned by the Inspector General or the Deputy Inspector General.
- Logs complaints from hotlines, web forms, referrals from Human Resources, Labor Relations or other entities. Reviews and analyzes complaints and determines next steps.
- Identifies sources of evidence, conducts interviews with witnesses and involved parties, reviews and analyzes videos and documentary evidence.
- Reviews, researches, analyzes and drafts memoranda on relevant legal or factual issues.
- Drafts summary reports for review by the Inspector General.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Two (2) years of full-time work experience performing investigations.
- OR Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
- Current employee of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County.
- AIG Certified Inspector General, Investigator, or Auditor. (

.) - Five (5) years of full-time work experience performing investigations.
- One (1) year of full-time work experience in a Shakman or Rutan environment.
Inspector General Investigator applicants must upload a writing sample to be considered. If applicant is an AIG Certified Inspector General, Investigator, or Auditor, proof of certification also must be uploaded before posting closes for consideration.
Writing Sample RequirementApplicants must submit a 3–5 page writing sample that reflects their ability to analyze complex information and present it clearly and objectively. The sample should demonstrate:
- Clarity of thought and organization
- The ability to apply facts to relevant laws, policies, or rules
The sample may be academic or work-related but must represent the applicant’s own original work and not be heavily edited by others.
