Workday Financial Reporting Analyst

Summary

The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for building and maintaining customized financial reporting solutions, dashboards, and operational updates for the organization. This role focuses on converting business needs into clear, actionable reporting outputs while supporting recurring changes to finance configurations and ensuring stakeholders have accurate, meaningful insights for decision‑making.

• Develop, test, and deploy custom financial reports and dashboards within Workday using tools such as Report Writer, Report Designer, and Prism Analytics.
• Interpret business requirements and translate them into accurate reporting solutions by analyzing data sources and understanding end‑user needs.
• Regularly evaluate and update existing reports to ensure accuracy, relevance, and usability, making adjustments to calculations, data sources, and layouts as needed.

• Process routine finance‑related configuration updates, including maintaining Expense Items, Worktags (finance and grants), Ledger Accounts, Payment Terms, Revenue Categories, Procurement Reasons, and Requisition Types.
• Configure and maintain Spend Categories, Cost Centers, hierarchical structures, and organizational mappings across Workday and Adaptive.
• Validate and reconcile data from multiple systems to ensure reporting outputs are consistent and reliable.

• Work closely with Finance, leadership, and cross‑functional teams to understand reporting needs and deliver solutions aligned with organizational goals.
• Support users by providing training, documentation, and guidance focused on enhancing their understanding of financial reporting tools and processes.
• Communicate effectively with HR, Finance, IT, and other internal groups to gather requirements, resolve issues, and ensure alignment throughout projects.

• Maintain strong data governance practices by ensuring accuracy, security, and confidentiality of all financial data.
• Stay current with Workday functionality and industry best practices to improve reporting capabilities and leverage new system enhancements.
• Document report specifications, processes, and requirements for ongoing knowledge sharing and consistent reporting standards.
• Complete routine financial system tasks following established change‑control procedures.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Expertise in Workday reporting tools (Report Writer, Report Designer, Prism Analytics) and calculated field creation.
• Solid understanding of core financial processes and data structures, including GL, AP, AR, FP&A, and Fixed Assets.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and data interpretation skills.
• Proficiency in requirements gathering, process documentation, and data mapping.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong qualitative/quantitative analysis capabilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with attention to detail and strong organizational habits.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining confidentiality of financial data.
• Understanding of data governance concepts and best practices.

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of applicable experience.
• Experience with Workday is required.
• Familiarity with reporting tools such as Adaptive or similar analytics platforms is considered an advantage.
