** Summary of position:
** The Manager of Accounts Receivable & Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the organization’s accounts receivable operations while also performing advanced general ledger accounting functions. This role blends operational leadership of billing, cash application, collections, and receivable reporting with ownership of key components of the month-end close, financial analysis, and audit support processes.
The position ensures accuracy, compliance with GAAP, strong internal controls, multi-entity oversight, and alignment between revenue operations and financial reporting. This individual supervises AR staff, partners with domestic and international teams, and contributes to process improvement initiatives that strengthen financial integrity across the organization.
** Essential job responsibilities & duties:
**** Accounts Receivable Leadership & Revenue Operations
*** Oversee tuition and program fee billing processes, ensuring rates, terms, and invoicing schedules are accurate and updated.
* Supervise daily recording and application of cash receipts.
* Reconcile AR subledger to the general ledger monthly and ensure ledger integrity.
* Monitor and report key AR performance metrics, including Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), aging trends, collection effectiveness, and bad debt exposure.
* Prepare AR aging, trend, and KPI reports for management.
* Resolve billing disputes and discrepancies in a professional and timely manner.
* Ensure proper revenue support activities, including billing accuracy, invoice timing, and reconciliation of deferred revenue balances.
* Maintain strong segregation of duties and internal controls within the accounts receivable function, including in a remote operating environment.
* Supervise, train, and develop AR staff, including performance management and workload allocation.
* Collaborate with students, universities, and internal departments to ensure clear and professional communication.
** General Ledger & Financial Accounting
*** Own assigned components of the monthly and annual close processes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, review of assigned accounts, and resolution of variances.
* Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure proper accruals of liabilities and assets.
