Senior Financial Analyst - Chicago, IL - Hybrid
The Senior Financial Analyst plays a critical role in financial planning, analysis, and decision support. This position partners closely with finance leadership and department heads to provide accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic insights that support the organization’s mission, operational effectiveness, and long-term sustainability.
Duties and Responsibilities Budgeting and ForecastingLead the annual operating and capital budget process.
Coordinate with various departments to gather inputs and develop key assumptions.
Train staff in budget methodology and use of software.
Create, maintain, and improve the numerous sheets and model functionality in the budget system.
Execute the smooth integration of budget and financial data between budget system and financial reporting systems
Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models to forecast business performance and inform strategic decisions.
Prepare regular financial forecasts and updates, highlighting key variances and underlying drivers.
Create forecasts and budgets for all salary, benefits, and insurance accounts.
Finance Analysis and ReportingCollaborate with accounting to ensure accurate financial reporting, including development of various financial reports in the budget and financial systems.
Prepare monthly and annual financial reports, including preparation of financial narratives and variance analysis.
Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment on financial objectives and initiatives and to help achieve financial and operational goals.
Analyze program profitability, cost drivers, and resource allocation.
Assist with pricing, fee analysis, and revenue optimization efforts.
Provide financial guidance on new initiatives, investments, and operational changes.
Develop cash flow forecast, monitor processes and events that may impact cash flow, and recommend actions to management as appropriate.
Support ad hoc financial analyses and special projects as assigned.
OtherAssist with STS audits and tax filings.
Manage all accounting and budget activities related to the TVT Registry.
Provide oversight of payroll administration; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and filings.
Manage the 5500 and discrimination testing for the Society’s Retirement Plan.
Manage various filings with governmental organizations (Bureau of Labor Statistics, etc.)
Create time allocation reports.
Design (or update) and implement new financial processes, procedures, audit trails, and reports.
Comply with the permitted and required uses and disclosures of Protected Health Information, in relation to STS’s Plan Sponsor function.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Experience and SkillsEducation and Experience
Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in accounting is required.
Five years related work experience in budget development and general accounting, including financial statement reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is also considered.
RequiredSkills and Abilities
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Proficiency with budget planning software (e.g., Workday Adaptive Insights) and accounting software (e.g. Sage Intacct)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Familiarity with payroll software and payroll regulations, Paylocity experience preferred
Excellent organizational, planning, and follow-through capabilities; attention to detail
Ability to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously
Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, volunteer leaders, other organizations, and industry contacts, tact, diplomacy, and good judgment
Positive attitude in the workplace
Flexibility and adaptability to changing daily activities and schedules
Ability to travel, as necessary

The salary range for this role is $84,000 - $101,000 annually. Actual compensation will be dependent on a candidate’s relevant experience, skills, training, certifications/licenses and qualifications.
