Controller, Finance & Banking, Financial Manager

Our client is looking for a Controller to lead all of their accounting and financial operations. This role is essential to ensuring accurate job costing, timely financial reporting, effective cash flow management, and strong financial controls that support profitable project execution and company growth.

* The position requires 5 days per week onsite in southwest Chicago.*

• Oversee all accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting
• Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes
• Ensure GAAP compliance and support external audits and tax filings
• Partner with Project Managers to review budgets, change orders, and overall project financial
• Monitor project costs and support reliable forecasting of margins and profitability
• Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital, and liquidity
• Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and long‑term financial planning
• Support bonding, banking relationships, and financial reporting requirements
• Design and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets
• Improve accounting systems, processes, workflows, and reporting efficiency
• Serve as a financial partner to Operations, Project Management, and Executive Leadership

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Proven experience managing and developing accounting teams
• ERP experience

• CPA or CMA designation
• Experience working with bonding companies, lenders, and external auditors
