A rapidly growing RIA with over $8 billion in AUM is seeking a Director of Accounting to help lead its finance function during a period of significant expansion. The firm focuses on supporting retiring advisors through a full‑integration succession model, acquiring and scaling high‑quality advisory practices across the U.S. As the organization continues to grow, it is building a best‑in‑class finance team to drive scalability, value creation, and long‑term performance.
ResponsibilitiesMonthly Close & Reporting (35%)
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure timely, accurate financial statements
- Establish and maintain close calendars, reconciliations, and review controls
- Mentor and develop the accounting team, setting clear expectations and accountability
- Oversee accounts payable, cash management, and daily treasury activities
- Manage a weekly cash forecast and support quarterly shareholder distributions
- Serve as the organization’s technical accounting authority, including:
- Purchase accounting for acquisitions
- Lease accounting (ASC 842)
- Equity compensation and share‑based payments
- Draft and maintain accounting policies and technical memos in accordance with US GAAP
- Partner with M&A and FP&A to evaluate accounting implications of transactions and strategic initiatives
- Lead the external audit process and act as the primary liaison with auditors
- Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules for audits and lender/investor reporting
Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and PE reporting requirements - Support lender, board, and investor reporting as needed
- Lead ERP optimization, including requirements definition, process design, and process mapping
- Drive automation and standardization across acquired entities
- Partner cross‑functionally to ensure systems support scalability, accuracy, and reporting needs
- Work closely with the CFO on accounting strategy, organizational design, and process improvements
- Collaborate with FP&A to align actuals, forecasts, and reporting
- Support post‑acquisition integration from an accounting and controls perspective
- CPA required
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally combining Big 4 public accounting and industry leadership
- Experience in a large, acquisitive RIA, wealth management firm, or PE‑backed services environment strongly preferred
- Deep knowledge of US GAAP, including business combinations, leases, and equity compensation
- Proven experience managing external audits and complex close processes
- ERP experience required (Workday or similar preferred)
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
