Salary: $180,000 – $250,000 base salary plus potential additional incentives.
Position Overview:The Tax Director will lead all tax planning, compliance, and advisory functions across complex entity structures, trusts, investments, and global holdings. This individual will collaborate closely with internal leadership, investment professionals, estate planning advisors, and external tax counsel to support long-term financial and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:Lead comprehensive tax planning strategies aligned with long-term investment, wealth, and estate objectives.
Evaluate tax implications related to investments, asset allocations, liquidity events, real estate, private equity, and philanthropic initiatives.
Advise on entity formation, restructuring strategies, and cross-border tax considerations.
Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and communicate potential tax impacts.
Oversee preparation and filing of federal, state, and international tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships, and corporate entities.
Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all tax reporting requirements.
Maintain strong documentation and internal controls to support tax positions and audit readiness.
Manage relationships with tax authorities and oversee audits or inquiries when necessary.
Partner with estate planning advisors on trust structures, wealth transfer strategies, and generational planning.
Provide guidance on gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax considerations.
Track basis, distributions, and reporting across trust structures and family partnerships.
Review tax consequences of investment opportunities, fund structures, real estate transactions, and business acquisitions or dispositions.
Coordinate tax diligence for direct investments and private transactions.
Collaborate with investment teams to help optimize after-tax returns.
Establish tax policies, procedures, reporting calendars, and governance processes.
Manage relationships with external CPAs, attorneys, and consultants.
Present tax strategy updates and recommendations to senior leadership.
Mentor internal tax staff or oversee outsourced tax providers.
● CPA or equivalent advanced tax credential required.
● 10+ years of progressive tax experience.
● Deep knowledge of individual, partnership, trust, gift/estate, and investment taxation.
● Experience with multi-entity structures, multi-state taxation, and alternative investments.
● Strong analytical, communication, and confidentiality skills.
● Ability to operate with discretion, integrity, and a service-oriented mindset.
● Experience with philanthropic structures such as foundations or donor-advised funds is a plus.
● Ability to collaborate effectively with legal, investment, and financial planning teams.
● Comfortable navigating complex environments and providing practical solutions.
● Family office, private wealth, or high-net-worth advisory experience preferred.
