Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Chicago, Illinois. This role will involve managing key accounting functions, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and supporting the organization's financial operations. The ideal candidate will bring a detail-oriented mindset and at least three years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and review journal entries to maintain accuracy in financial records.

- Conduct regular account reconciliations to ensure proper tracking of assets and liabilities.

- Perform bank reconciliations to validate cash balances and identify discrepancies.

- Assist in preparing corporate tax returns and handling sales tax reporting.

- Manage and update the general ledger to reflect accurate financial transactions.

- Utilize Workday Financial Management software to streamline accounting processes and reporting.

- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with tax regulations and accounting standards.

- Provide support during audits by compiling necessary documentation and reports.

- Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide actionable insights.

- Maintain organized records for all accounting activities and transactions. Requirements - A minimum of three years of experience in accounting or finance roles.

- Proficiency in preparing journal entries and conducting account reconciliations.

- Strong knowledge of corporate tax and sales tax processes.

- Experience in managing general ledger activities.

- Familiarity with Workday Financial Management software is highly preferred.

- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.

- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively.

- Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
