We are partnering with a $4bill global organization headquartered in Chicago to identify a Director of Finance Transformation & Accounting Integration
. This is a high‑impact leadership role focused on integrating newly acquired companies into a complex, global finance and accounting environment while driving scalable process transformation across Controllership.
This role serves as the overall project manager for accounting integration, working directly with acquired company finance leaders and coordinating closely with Financial Reporting, Technical Accounting, SOX, and an established financial systems function (including One Stream).
The RoleThe Director of Finance Transformation & Accounting Integration will lead the end‑to‑end accounting integration of acquisitions, ensuring alignment across accounting policies, close processes, internal controls, reporting structures, and financial systems. The role also plays a key part in broader finance transformation initiatives, focused on standardization, governance, and process improvement.
An established financial systems function, including the One Stream team, reports into this role. The Director provides strategic direction, prioritization, and business guidance to ensure systems activities support integration and transformation objectives.
Key Responsibilities Accounting Integration & M&A Execution- Lead the full accounting integration lifecycle for newly acquired entities, serving as the central project manager across finance and accounting work streams
- Partner directly with acquired company finance leaders to align accounting policies, chart of accounts, entity structures, and close processes
- Coordinate purchase accounting activities in collaboration with Technical Accounting, including opening balance sheets and pro forma considerations
- Ensure internal controls and SOX requirements are implemented and operationalized for acquired entities
- Oversee accounting‑driven data mapping and financial data migration to support consolidation and reporting
- Establish integration governance, timelines, issue tracking, and executive‑level status reporting
- Assess current‑state Controllership processes and design scalable, standardized future‑state operating models
- Drive improvements across close, consolidation, and reporting to reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and enhance timeliness
- Partner with Financial Reporting to strengthen internal and external reporting processes
- Support SOX and Internal Audit in strengthening global control frameworks
- Lead change‑management efforts, including stakeholder communication and adoption planning
- Provide strategic oversight and prioritization to an established financial systems function, including One Stream
- Translate accounting and integration requirements into clear business priorities for systems initiatives
- Ensure system changes (hierarchies, mappings, workflows, reporting enhancements) align with accounting policies and integration plans
- Support automation and continuous improvement initiatives across consolidation and reporting tools
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred
- 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting, Controllership, financial reporting, or M&A integration
- Demonstrated success leading accounting integrations for acquisitions, including policy alignment, close integration, and internal controls
- Experience driving finance transformation, process redesign, and cross‑functional initiatives
- Familiarity with enterprise consolidation or EPM platforms (e.g., One Stream, HFM, SAP BPC, Tagetik, Workday Adaptive, Anaplan); direct One Stream experience not required
- Strong project‑management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and work streams
- Executive presence with the ability to communicate clearly with senior leadership and acquired company teams
- Annual Bonus: 20% target
