Tax Associate; Fund Formation – Lateral

An AmLaw-recognized law firm is seeking a lateral associate to join its Tax practice with a focus on private investment fund formation in Chicago.

This role is well-suited for an associate with deep tax experience advising fund sponsors and investors, particularly in the venture capital and private equity space, who is looking to work on sophisticated, transaction-driven matters within a market-leading funds platform.

The associate will work closely with partners and senior attorneys on the tax structuring and formation of private investment funds, including venture and private equity funds. The practice involves advising on fund formations, primary transactions, sponsor-level matters, and related tax planning across the lifecycle of investment funds.

• 5+ years of tax experience focused on private investment funds
• Experience representing fund sponsors and/or investors
• Exposure to venture capital and private equity fund formations
• Familiarity with sponsor-level tax issues and complex transaction structuring
• Strong analytical, drafting, and problem-solving skills
• Admitted in Illinois or eligible to waive in

• Highly regarded Tax and Fund Formation practices with national reach
