An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a Banking Associate to join a top-tier lender‑side finance practice based in Chicago
. This role sits within a high‑growth private credit and leveraged finance team that advises leading arrangers and direct lenders on some of the most complex and high‑value financing transactions in the market.
This is an excellent opportunity for an associate who wants exposure to cutting‑edge private credit work, close client contact, and the chance to play a meaningful role on sophisticated domestic and cross‑border transactions in a collaborative, high‑performance environment.
Responsibilities- Advise lenders, arrangers, and direct lending platforms on private credit, acquisition finance, and leveraged finance transactions.
- Draft, review, and negotiate credit agreements and related financing documentation, including first lien, second lien, mezzanine, and unitranche facilities.
- Support financing aspects of acquisitions, refinancings, recapitalisations, and growth transactions.
- Work closely with senior lawyers and partners on complex deal structures and execution.
- Manage multiple transactions simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
- Collaborate across offices with a nationally integrated banking and finance team.
- JD required; admission to the California Bar or eligibility to waive in.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in private credit, acquisition finance, or leveraged finance at a leading law firm.
- Strong experience representing lenders or arrangers.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Strong academic credentials.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to explain complex issues clearly and pragmatically.
- Ability to take on increasing responsibility and work directly with clients.
- Highly competitive compensation ($235,000 - $390,000) and bonus structure, aligned with top‑of‑market standards.
