The Corporate Tax Manager will lead federal, state, and international tax compliance and reporting for a growing financial services organization. This role will oversee ASC 740 income tax accounting, manage complex tax filings, ensure accurate information reporting (1099/1042), and support cross-border tax matters. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in US GAAP, IFRS, and the Internal Revenue Code, along with strong analytical skills and the ability to guide business partners through tax considerations.
Key Responsibilities Tax Accounting & Reporting (ASC 740 / IFRS / US GAAP)- Lead quarterly and annual income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740
, including deferred tax calculations, uncertain tax positions, and valuation allowances. - Prepare and review tax footnotes and disclosures for financial statements under US GAAP and IFRS
. - Partner with Finance on forecasting, annual audits, and monthly close activities.
- Oversee preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns, estimated tax payments, and extensions.
- Ensure compliance with the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) and state tax regulations.
- Manage nexus analysis, state apportionment, and tax planning to support business growth.
- Oversee annual 1099 reporting and ensure accurate reporting of payments to U.S. payees.
- Manage 1042/1042-S processes, including withholding requirements on payments to non-U.S. individuals/entities.
- Conduct thorough W-8 and W-9 form reviews to determine proper withholding, documentation, and reporting.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to support information reporting accuracy.
- Support international tax planning, global structuring, transfer pricing documentation, and cross-border transactions.
- Assist with foreign tax filings, treaty benefits analysis, and global withholding obligations.
- Monitor evolving OECD and global transparency regulations affecting financial services.
- Manage IRS, state, and foreign tax audits; prepare responses, documentation, and supporting analyses.
- Conduct technical tax research related to new regulations, emerging issues, and firm-specific matters.
- Advise leadership on tax implications of transactions, new products, and corporate initiatives.
- Enhance tax processes, system workflows, and documentation to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls and internal risk management frameworks.
- Mentor junior staff and collaborate across Accounting, Treasury, and Operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
Master’s in Tax or CPA strongly preferred. - 5–8+ years of progressive corporate tax experience, preferably in financial services or public accounting.
- Strong knowledge of ASC 740
, IFRS
, US GAAP
, and the Internal Revenue Code
. - Experience with 1099/1042 reporting
, W-8/W-9 documentation, and international tax concepts. - Excellent analytical, research, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
