Job Details:Financial Analyst - Law Firm - Chicago - Hybrid - $70-85k
Prior/current law firm/legal industry experience is required!
Our well known law firm client in Chicago is seeking a Financial Analyst to join their team!
This individual will play a crucial role in managing and interpreting the financial data that drives the firm's strategic decisions.
Key Responsibilities:- Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare standard and ad-hoc financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Analyze financial data and trends to provide actionable insights to management, practice group leaders, and senior managing partners.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and profitability at various levels (practice group, office, attorney).
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist with the annual budgeting process and the analysis of lateral hires.
- Oversee and track legal department budgets and expenses, providing monthly budget reports.
- Assist in responding to budgetary, forecast, and inter-company billing questions.
- Data Accuracy and Compliance:
- Perform ongoing audits of financial system data to ensure data accuracy and compliance with financial reporting standard operating procedures.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with internal financial controls and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements.
- Reconciliations of financial data.
- Other Duties:
- Support ad-hoc financial analyses and projects as required.
- Development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for financial processes.
- Review and track law firm timekeeper rate requests and provide recommendations.
- Work closely with law firms to resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure compliance with billing guidelines.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of financial principles and accounting practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, data modeling).
- Familiarity with financial reporting software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities.
- Prior experience within a law firm is required.
- Experience with specific legal software is required (e.g., Aderant, Elite, 3E).
