Who We Are

Novastone Capital Advisors (NCA) runs a global Operator‑Led Search Fund program, helping mid‑career professionals to identify, acquire, grow, and exit established small to medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs) typically faced with succession challenges.

We are seeking a highly motivated, execution‑oriented Associate to support NCA’s Portfolio Management team across the United States and Canada. This role is critical to enabling effective value creation, portfolio surveillance, and investor transparency by providing strong financial, analytical, and project management support across the portfolio.

The role is hands‑on and analytical, with a focus on financial modeling & reporting, data quality, portfolio analysis, and cross‑functional coordination. The Associate will work closely with the Portfolio Manager, Board Operating Partners, Investment Team, and Investor Relations Team to ensure timely, accurate, and decision‑ready information throughout the investment lifecycle.

This position is well‑suited for a candidate seeking broad exposure to private equity investment and portfolio management, with increasing responsibility including Board exposure as the portfolio grows.

Main Responsibilities
  • Monitor financial and operational performance, flagging risks, variances, and emerging issues.
  • Prepare and coordinate materials for operating committees and internal reviews.
  • Provide analytical and coordination support during periods of elevated risk or urgency.
  • Maintain internal dashboards, workflows, and portfolio information systems (e.g., Click Up).
  • Own and manage the portfolio reporting calendar and related project timelines.
  • Consolidate monthly and quarterly financials across 12+ portfolio companies.
  • Maintain portfolio‑level financial models, KPIs, and performance trackers.
  • Work with portfolio company finance teams to improve reporting accuracy, consistency, and timeliness as needed.
Investor Relations & Cross‑Functional Coordination
  • Liaise with Investor Relations on communications and information flows.
  • Coordinate across Investment, Finance, Legal, and Operating teams to align inputs and deadlines.
Must Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in investment banking, investment management, consulting, corporate finance, or a similar analytical role.
  • Strong financial modeling and accounting fundamentals.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • High attention to detail and strong data quality mindset.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with AI, dashboard, and project management tools (e.g., Click Up).
  • Progress toward CFA or similar professional designation.
What We Offer
  • Competitive salary with long‑term benefits.
  • Professional development opportunities with high‑level exposure to senior executives of high‑growth lower middle market companies across North America and Europe.
  • A fast‑paced, young, and dynamic environment with broad international exposure.
  • Numerous opportunities for travel and in‑person meetings.
  • Employee training and development.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer, and all submitted CVs pass through the same application process, regardless of gender, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, race, political affiliation, marital status, disability, age, parental status, or any other non‑merit factor.
