Job DescriptionOliver Wyman is seeking an Actuarial P&C Manager to join our growing Property & Casualty Actuarial Consulting Practice. The role requires working closely with consultants and analysts to independently analyze complex problems and develop workable solutions for clients, including large corporations, captive insurance companies, state regulators, and P&C insurance companies. The candidate will manage projects with minimal principal involvement, review analyst work for technical accuracy, support training and mentoring, prepare exhibits and reports, and participate in client meetings.
Responsibilities- Primary focus on loss reserving with additional projects in pricing/rate making, predictive modeling, economic capital modeling, and warranty & loyalty rewards programs.
- Manage new projects and inherit existing ones, serving as day‑to‑day project point person and effectively managing client communications.
- Review the work of analysts, ensuring technical accuracy and integrity of analyses, templates, and exhibits.
- Support the training, development, and mentoring of analysts on project teams.
- Prepare and produce exhibits and written reports to present findings to clients.
- Attend and participate in client meetings as required.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships for business development, including assisting in the preparation of proposals and presentations for prospective clients.
- BA/BS degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or a related field.
- 7+ years of actuarial experience in the property & casualty industry, with a preference for prior actuarial consulting experience.
- Near ACAS/FCAS credentials.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and oversee multiple tasks in a demanding environment.
- Excellent analytical and client‑oriented solution‑development abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Understanding of the value of collaboration and ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Ability to manage a heavy workload and meet deadlines in an extremely fast‑paced environment.
- Self‑starter with strong initiative, confidence, and ability to work with little guidance.
- Deep critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Highly motivated individual willing to work in a dynamic environment.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with R, SAS, SQL, or VBA is a plus.
Base salary range: $83,000 - $150,000. Salary will be determined based on experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, exams, and applicable minimum wage. In addition, the position is eligible for performance‑based incentives and a competitive compensation and benefits package.
