Position OverviewZiegler is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team in Chicago. This role supports our accounting efforts and provides a broad range of experiences. The Senior Accountant reports directly to the firm’s Controller and plays a key role in day‑to‑day accounting operations. Responsibilities include financial reporting, development and maintenance of accounting principles, general ledger preparation, Treasurer functions, year‑end audit preparation and budget support.
Responsibilities- Conduct treasurer cash management functions
- Provide accounting support for broker‑dealer activities and assist with month‑end close activities
- Complete broker‑dealer net capital compliance activities and regulatory reporting
- Serve as the liaison with investment banking, capital markets and private equity areas
- Assist in workplace expense management and fixed‑asset accounting
- Ensure accurate deliverables for monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close
- Manage private equity accounting activities
- Assist in HUD accounting and regulatory reporting
- Assist the Controller and CFO with ad hoc reporting and projects
- Support budget activities
- Assist in tax compliance
- Respond to inquiries from CFO, CEO and other managers regarding financial results and special requests
- Help develop and implement new procedures and features to enhance departmental workflow
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- CPA or actively pursuing CPA preferred
- At least 3‑4 years of relevant accounting experience
- Experience in broker‑dealer, municipal finance or auditing is preferred
- Experience with Great Plains, Investran/Carta and expense management systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to multi‑task, work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated efficiency and flexibility in a fast‑paced environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
