Responsibilities
Job Description
Potential Responsibilities:
Interns/Co-ops will be placed into a manufacturing engineering role and treated like full-time associates. They will have projects assigned by the managers and work side by side full-time associates. Lead and participate in Lean/Continuous Improvement events.
- Make changes to layout of the plant to increase production efficiency and output
- Help implement 5S and Visual Management Boards
- Conduct time studies, identify, and eliminate waste, & create standard work
- Design storage solutions to improve floor space utilization
- Support production on prototype units after the initial design has been completed
- Pursuing an ABET EAC certified degree in Engineering required
- A degree in one of the following majors preferred:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Agricultural Engineering
- Completion of Dynamics & Statics Classes preferred.
Altec Fenex is currently recruiting an Engineering Intern/Coop, from May – August/Dec 2023. This position is located at the Altec Fenex facility in Sandoval, IL. Altec Fenex provides a competitive hourly wage, (housing not included).
Team Fenex, an Altec subsidiary, was formed in 1993 by a dedicated group who wanted to bring quality equipment to the Telephone Industry. Continuing its 30-year relationship with Communication Companies, Fenex also expanded to Cable and Power Utilities.

Pay range: $21-$22 per hour. We are committed to fair and competitive pay for all associates based on their experience, education, and qualifications. Should the selected candidate meet the qualifications of a more experienced level in the career path, the job level may be adjusted.
